Stroke Program in Neurorecovery (SPiN) Workshop 2024
November 25-26, 2024 in Calgary.

SPiN workshop brings together young researchers from across the country to learn from expert faculty about basic science and clinical stroke research. The theme of this year’s workshop will be stroke clinical trials & rehabilitation technologies in research studies. This multi-day workshop is targeted for trainees (primarily, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows) and will be an excellent opportunity to network with other trainees and faculty in the field from within and outside of Canada. The SPiN Workshop 2024 is open to all trainees interested in stroke and vascular cognitive impairment research. You must be a trainee to qualify. If interested, trainees must apply to attend SPiN at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SPiN2024APPLY

CANSTAR NEW TRAINING ASSOCIATION

Through a partnership with CanStroke Recovery Trials Platform and the StrokeCog Clinical Trials Platform a new association for trainees has been created. The Canadian Stroke Trainee Association in Research (CanSTAR) new trainee association aims to foster collaboration, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for trainees interested in stroke research.

New Governance Observership Program now started for trainees

The CanSTAR Governance Observership Program is a new initiative offering trainees the opportunity to observe decision-making processes within three partnering platforms and the Canadian Stroke Consortium. Trainees will receive mentorship in committee dynamics, governance principles, and leadership skills. Participants will be paired and rotated monthly on different executive committees, committing to a minimum one-year term. The program includes online education on governance structures, EDI, communication, decision-making, and chairing meetings. Applications, due by August 1st, 2024, require a resume/CV and a statement of interest and should be emailed to Holly at info@canadianstroke.ca

“DONUT Be a Stranger” networking program.

Each month, you will be paired with another CanSTAR member to have a brief virtual or in-person meeting to expand your network and meet fellow stroke research trainees. If you are not already signed up for the DONUT be a Stranger networking program and would like to join, please email Holly at info@canadianstroke.ca

CanStim

CanStim is the Canadian Platform for Trials in Non-Invasive Brain Stimulation, launched in 2021 and powered by Brain Canada, collaborates with stroke recovery groups to develop and refine brain stimulation protocols.
